Lake Town (Kolkata Metropolitan Area)

Lake Town, is the most happening place beyond North Kolkata. There is a great duplex cinema hall, Jaya. Lake Town has a swimming pool association, 3 parks and 3 lakes. It is well connected with all modes of communication. The Airport is only 6.5 km from here. With good road transport on both its sides: Jessore Road on the North and VIP Road on the South. It has a Circular Railway Station (Patipukur) within walking distance and a Metro (underground) railway at around 2 km distance at Belgachhia.
Most of the inhabitants occupy flats in 3 to 4 storeyed buildings. The population is basically middle class with Bengalis and other communities living in tandem. It has a Post Office (Kolkata 700089), a police station, telephone exchange (2534 exchange), and branches of at least 20 banks including ATMs.

The Annual Book Fair held in February each year at Milan Sangha is one of the attractions along with the Kali Puja Mela held at the same grounds in October/ November each year.
