West Kolkata Lake Town




Lake Town is a small locality situated towards the north of Kolkata city. The region has no tourist attractions as such but like the rest of the regions of the city there are crowded appartments, shops, schools, hospitals and more. The region is about eight kilometres from the city centre. One can access the place either from the northern side by taking the Jessore Road or taking the Nazrul Islam Avenue on the southern end. The adjoining regions of Lake Town include Dakshindanri, Bangur Avenue and Salt Lake.

A lot of activity follows in the daily schedule at Lake Town. The important enterprises consists of the popular commercial banks, schools, hospitals, shops and more. Amongst the renowned institutes, East Calcutta Girls College and Daffodil Nursing has made a name.

Ulta Danga railway station and Dum Dum metro terminal are in the vicinity and not more than three or four kilometres from the place. The subway terminal lies towards the north-west of Lake Town where as the railway station lies to the south-west of Lake Town.

Accessibility
  • Dum Dum metro terminal is very near to this region not more than three or four kilometres from the place.
  • The region is around 8 kilometres from the City Centre. Buses and taxis are easily available from the City Centre.
